Preserving and Sharing the Past in 3-D

UC Merced Professor Maurizio Forte and several of his students spent summer 2010 in Çatalhöyük, an ancient settlement in Turkey.

While there, they excavated artifacts and scanned them into a digital, three-dimensional format that can be shared with scholars around the world. Their work can be viewed in an exhibit that spans two floors of the Kolligian Library.

UC Merced released a video showing some of the exhibit, complete with an interview with Forte. It's interesting stuff.
