Niger. Rock Art of the Air Mountains

'Rock Art of the Air mountains: preservation and valorization'
'Art Rupestre de l'Air: Preservation et Valorisation'
23-25 April, 2012 in Niamey, Niger.

Karine Dyskiewicz contacted the Foundation on behalf of the ANIGOURANE association in Niger. 'Anigourane', which translates as 'legend' in the Tuareg language Tamashek, works for the preservation and valorization of the rock art of the Air Mountains, in northern Niger and the Agadez region. ANIGOURANE was created as part of the preservation project following the moulding operation of the Dabous giraffes, funded by the Foundation.

The National Workshop followed the assessment mission of five major rock art sites of the Air, conducted in February 2012, based on international standards (location, content, condition and risk to conservation) by a joint team of the Regional Directorate of Culture Agadez, municipalities and Iferouane Gougaram, and the association Anigourane.
